Letting an '''Alien''' fleet capture a planet can actually be useful for territory expansion. When a planet is neutral, you can only capture it by assimilating it, but you can take it by force when it is captured by '''Aliens'''. You can then take the planet and use it as another base for your faction. This can also help when trying to take another faction’s planet without directly going to war. Be sure to eliminate the fleet before using this method however, otherwise it may be more difficult.
