#REDIRECT Strategies#Sieges
Sieges are a strategy commonly used to destroy starbases. It involves the use of capital siege ships, especially Dreadnoughts. Many ships are built for this purpose, such as the Hasatan, Avalon, Ridgebreaker, and Kraken. For support, other ships may also be used, to destroy any incoming enemy ships, or to distract base fire.
Brute Force Raiding
#Players spawn Dreadnoughts or other capital Siege ships, along with support ships for more damage or protection against small, fast ships.
#The fleet warps just out of the turret range of the base simultaneously and slowly approaches.
#A ship with high health is designated as the tanking ship, and warps closer than the other ships to attack and take the base's fire while the other sieging ships attack the base further back.
#If the tanking ship is low on health, its role is swapped with another high health ship until the base is destroyed.
Advantages
*High damage output of Dreadnoughts make base destruction quick and easy.
*New players can easily join, since many support ships and distracting ships are cheap.
*Any defending ships can usually be destroyed quickly by a balanced fleet.
*Hard to counter without powerful ships like Carriers with full AI fighters or Super Capitals.
Disadvantages
*Base fire can do high damage to dreadnoughts, especially when they are large and easy to hit. This is easy to fix with a distracting ship, tanking ship, or long range ships such as ships with torpedoes.
*Sieges require full team cooperation usually, and something like an enemy spawning a Super Capital or spamming AI fighters with a Carrier like Nyx can scare off you and your team before the base is destroyed.
*Can be difficult to accomplish with small fleets.
Torpedo Raiding
#Instead of conventional Siege ships, players use Torpedo ships, such as the Hasatan, Kraken, Avalon, or any other ship armed with Torpedoes
#With Torpedo ships, players have the advantage of being long ranged (potentially a few thousand studs out of base range), out of base turret fire range, and high damage per shot. However, it requires manual aiming of Torpedoes.
Advantages
* Can be completed very easily with any ship with torpedoes as long as the enemy base is undefended.
* You will take no damage whatsoever if done properly.
* Almost anybody can be part of one, since ships like the Starblade and Belvat are cheap and have torpedoes.
Disadvantages
* Most ships with torpedoes cannot defend themselves.
* Difficult to defend yourself if somebody tried to counter the siege.
* Slower than normal sieges.
Fighter Raiding
#A player spawns out a Carrier, such as the Nimitz, Prometheus or Nyx.
#The player will wait for other ships to join them, or use AI fighters for quicker use.
#After that, they will warp closer to Starbase, but keep in mind that the maximum range for Base Heavy Turrets is 8,000 studs since Railguns have a maximum range of 8,000 studs.
#The player then deploys fighters. A swarm of fighters distract the turrets with its speed when attacking while the player's carrier and other ships get closer to the base.
Different fighters have their own advantages and disadvantages. For example, a Nixesion has a lot of firepower and can do quite a bit of damage to a Starbase quickly, but can be killed really fast when close enough to the Starbase due to its speed (at least when compared to other fighters) and mediocre Shield and Hull. The strategy of players using them also has an impact.
Advantages
* Easy, since fighters can be regenerated, Carriers are usually tanky, and only one ship is required.
* Massive damage can be done depending on the Carrier used and how many fighters are in use.
Disadvantages
* Some Carriers are very expensive.
* AI Fighters are costly, and your team might be small or not cooperative.
* Normal sieges and Torpedo sieges are generally more effective if you consider the overall health and DPS of the fleet compared to the health and DPS of a Carrier and its Fighters.
* Can be easily countered by ships with precision turrets.
Trivia
*The old Starbase model had a blind spot where a Starblade or other small ships are safe. The ship won't be hurt as long as the Starbase doesn't get upgraded or another ship doesn't attack you.
*With the new AI fighters, players can launch their fighters from a carrier, then warp off while allowing the fighters to damage the base
