The Stormbringer was the first Carrier to be added, introduced in version .40, and has received 2 remodels.

Description

The Stormbringer's exterior looks quite aggressive in design and has many different spike-like protrusions at random angles, and has two large rocket engines at the rear emitting an effect not dissimilar to that of the Mammoth’s engines. The ship's color scheme is strictly grayscale.

It carries 4 Wraths

Interior

The Stormbringer has one teleporter from an invisible pathway behind the ship to the command bridge, which contains a simple grey room with a chair sitting in front of 2 screens. Strangely there is no teleporter leading to the hangar: Another dull grey area with a large opening to each broadside of the ship. Behind each opening is 2 wraths.

Advantages

  • Has a decent amount of fighters.
  • Has balanced shield and hull DPS.
  • Low risk as it is the cheapest carrier in the game.
  • Great hull health.

Disadvantages

  • Not very maneuverable.
  • Can't face off against bigger Ships without the help of the Fighters.
  • Fighter bay is completely open, allowing for small ships such as fighters, frigates and smaller destroyers to sneak inside and deal damage from within.
  • MASSIVE blind spot beneath the ship, due to turret layout being remarkably similar to those of ships such as the Templar and Apocalypse: massive array of weapons on top, zero turrets on the bottom. This is exacerbated by the lack of spinals also shared by the two aforementioned ships.
  • Players might not want to fly in your fighters as actually getting to the fighter bay can be very difficult, due to an absence of a teleporter leading there. However, this is completely nullified if you have access to a sufficient amount of AI pilots.
  • Very low fighter count compared to higher-tier carriers such as the Nyx or Nimitz.

Strategy

  • Good for launching Fighter Swarms, as the wraths have high firepower and they are provided in sufficient amounts to effectively assault a base.

Version History

  • Remodeled by oChaosWarrioro in .61e4.
  • Health increased to 6250 Shields, 6000 Hull, Top Speed reduced to 29, Turn Speed changed to 0.03, Acceleration changed to 5, and Cargo Hold increased to 1260.
  • Remodeled again in version .64c.
  • Hull increased from 6000 to 10000, loadout changed to 2 Medium Lasers, 4 Heavy Point Defense Lasers and 2 Heavy Flak Cannons in version .68d.
  • Hull reduced from 10000 to 7000 in version .69a2.
  • Remodeled by Wiscyy in version (?) and received custom fighters, the Wraths

Trivia

  • The old Stormbringer had what seemed to be a large runway on the top. Although it may have been meant to be used for landing, it was rarely used by players other than as a walking platform.
  • The Stormbringer's original model was nicknamed "The Shoebox"
