The Corvid is a Turret-based support Destroyer.

Template:Ship Infobox Template

Description

The Corvid is a cheap Destroyer with decent firepower and health. The Corvid boasts 3 Light Lasers and 2 Light Gatling Cannons, which can easily destroy most Frigates or Destroyers. It has decent speed and moderate health, making this a great starting warship for new players.

Interior

The entrance in the back leads to short hallway, eventually ending at the pilot's seat. There are also rooms to the left and right with a kitchen/sleeping area and fire extinguisher. In the middle of the hallway are some stairs that lead to a bottom floor with a 2nd exit below the docking point.

Advantages

  • Extremely cheap and expendable.
  • Great for countering Aliens or Frigates or other smaller ships.
  • Fast and agile.
  • Good Turret firepower.
  • Balanced Shield and Hull stats.

Disadvantages

  • No Spinals.
  • Large body makes it an easy target for more inaccurate weaponry.

Strategy

  • Use this ship to defend bigger ships in a Siege or anti-Siege by destroying Fighters and Frigates.
  • Stay away from anything stronger than a Destroyer.

Version History

  • The Corvid got a buff with extra Turrets and a lower cost in an unknown version.
  • 2 Light Flak Cannons got changed to 2 Light Gatling Cannons in version .62_dbg03.
  • Remodeled in version .66k?

Trivia

  • Once considered useless, the ship is now more viable in PVP than it was before the buff.
  • Many players prefer the Cobra as it has 6 additional Phasers, but Corvid is only one third the cost of the Cobra.
  • This is one of the most common starter ships.
  • Used to be the cheapest Destroyer upon release.
  • Has become less common as more cheap Destroyers are added.
  • Held on to its alpha model longer than most ships.
  • It's a GREAT roleplay ship. Has a kitchen and some beds, a second docking port that would be ideal if you'd want to land on a planet.
